Concept -the Polaris Rig Management (PRM) modular rig concept is founded on a combination of innovative design and operational flexibility that enables them to be readily mobilized/ demobilized from location to location to carry out a broad range of well engineering activities on a cost effective basis.
A modular rig may be used either as a relief / secondary platform rig, or as a replacement for the existing platform derrick equipment set (DES) on mature fields with a limited drilling program, that does not require the ongoing presence - and cost - of a full drilling set.
A modular drilling rig may be mobilized to site on a piece small basis via a series of easily lift-able packages (max. weight = 22MT), or as a single heavy lift of c.550MT, thereby minimizing offshore hook up and commissioning scope.
